The IT-200 series of training programs are specifically designed to prepare someone with the foundational skills, knowledge and industry recognized certification needed to become an IT professional.

In the business world, computers and computerized systems are not going away. The demand for Technical skills in the workplace is only increasing. The three best certifications to start a career as an IT Professional are the CompTIA A+, CompTIA Network+ and Microsoft MCP.

IT-200 Courses (CompTIA)

(IT-201/202) CompTIA A+ Managing and Maintaining Your PC

The IT-201/IT-202 program is all about acquiring A+ certification. The A+ Certification covers foundational IT skills across a variety of devices and operating systems. A+ certification teaches the skills necessary to support standalone computer devices such as desktops, laptops, tablets, smart phones, printers and servers. A+ prepares you for basic computer trouble shooting, help desk and customer support responsibilities. After achieving A+ Certification, the next step is gaining Network+ Certification. Students will be prepared for CompTIA A+ certification testing.

Program Description

The A+ Managing and Maintaining Your PC program is primarily focused on introducing the student to computer hardware and software support and preparing the student for the CompTIA A+ certification. The students will learn about the installation/repair of computers and peripherals, as well as build their own computer.

CompTIA A+ Essentials measures the necessary competencies of an entry-level IT professional. It tests for technical understanding of computer technology, networking and security, as well as the communication skills and professionalism now required of all IT professionals.

CompTIA A+ Practical Application is an extension of CompTIA A+ Essentials, with more of a “hands-on” orientation focused on scenarios in which troubleshooting and tools must be applied to resolve problems.

Candidate job roles include enterprise technician, field service technician, PC technician and IT administrator. CompTIA A+ is part of the certification track for corporations such as Microsoft, HP and Cisco. Other companies, including Dell, Intel, Lenovo and Ricoh, have made CompTIA A+ certification mandatory for their service technicians. The U.S. Department of Defense recognizes CompTIA A+ and the Department of Homeland Security requires it as part of their computer forensics program.

CompTIA A+ certification validates foundation-level knowledge and skills necessary for a career in PC support. The certification proves competence in areas such as installation, preventative maintenance, networking, security and troubleshooting.

The technology community identifies the CompTIA A+ as a perfect entry point into an Information Technology career. By the end of the program students will be fully prepared to sit for the following 2 exams listed below:

Certifications:

  • A+ Essentials Exam 220-901
  • A+ Practical Applications Exam 220-902

Current cost for taking the exam is $410.00.

(IT-203/204) CompTIA Network+ Introduction to Networking Technologies

The IT-203/IT-204 program is for someone looking to gain Network+ certification. Network+certification training is your entry way into how networking of wired and wireless devices actually works. Network+ certification training provides a detailed overview on how networks function in addition to drilling down into some of the basic principles and skills need to provide network support of those devices. As CompTIA likes to say, “Network+ certifies the essential skills needed to confidently design, configure, manage and troubleshoot any wired and wireless devices.” Students will be prepared for CompTIA Network+ certification testing.

After achieving the Network+ Certification, a number of training pathways open up, including Network Administration (CCNA) and Systems Administration (MCSA).

Program Description

In today’s business world, timely information is the key to success. Meeting the challenges of networking local area, wide area and remote networks require a firm understanding of data communication standards and emerging LAN/WAN internetworking technologies. This course is designed to prepare the student for CompTIA’s Network+ certification exam.

This comprehensive course will help you understand networking terminology, technologies and how data is moved in a real-world network environment. You will learn the basics of data communication, communication architectures, transmission methods, OSI Model and the TCP/IP protocol stack. You will build a LAN that demonstrates topologies, components, media access control methods (MAC), protocols, bit rates and bandwidth. This course is an important stepping-stone for students who are interested in pursuing a CCNA certification or those interested in the IT networking field.

Achieving a CompTIA Network+ certification demonstrates that the student can describe the features and functions of networking components, and possesses the knowledge and skills needed to install, configure, manage and troubleshoot basic networking hardware, protocols and services.

The technology community identifies the CompTIA Network+ as a perfect entry point into an Information Technology career. By the end of the program students will be fully prepared to sit for the following 1 exam listed below:

(IT-205/206) Technical Support With A+, Network+ and Windows 7

The IT-205/IT-206 program is a combination of IT-201/IT-202, IT-203/204 and a Microsoft Windows 7 MCP certification. The Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP) for Windows 7 certification develops Microsoft desktop configuration and management skills, which for entry level IT professionals, are higher valued by perspective employers over Security+. Students will be prepared for CompTIA A+, CompTIA Network+ and Microsoft MCP certification testing.

The CompTIA IT support pathway recommends Security+ certification training.Security+ is good training but in regards to entry level IT professionals, it does have its limit for finding employment. Give an employer a hiring choice between someone certified in Microsoft desktop support versus someone certified in Security+, experience has shown, the employer will be more inclined to hire the Microsoft Certified Professional first.

Program Description

This 420 hour program is for the entry level student who has limited IT support skills. The program begins with the basics of computer and builds to mid-level IT knowledge. The program is comprised of four courses covering such topics as PC fundamentals, Network fundamentals, Configuring and Installing a Windows 7 client.

The A+ course introduces the student to computer hardware and software support and while preparing the student for the CompTIA A+ certification. The students will learn about the installation/repair of computers and peripherals, as well as build their own computer.

The Network+ course covers the topics necessary for the student to build a networking foundation, and gain hands-on networking experience. The objectives are in two distinct groups: knowledge of networking technology and knowledge of networking practices.

The Windows 7 course covers installing, deployment, and upgrade to Windows 7. The course also covers new Windows 7 features such as BranchCache and HomeGroup networking. Additionally, you will master configuration pre-installation and post-installation system settings, Windows security features, network connectivity applications included with Windows 7, and mobile.

Achieving CompTIA A+, Network+ and MCTS Windows 7 certifications designates that the student has a broad base of IT knowledge and competency in core hardware and operating system technologies including installation, configuration, diagnosing, preventive maintenance, the knowledge and skills needed to install, configure, manage and troubleshoot basic networking hardware, protocols and services and the ability to successfully install, administer, and troubleshoot information systems that incorporate Windows 7.

The technology community identifies the CompTIA A+, Network + and Windows 7 MCTS certifications as a perfect entry point into an Information Technology career. By the end of the program students will be fully prepared to sit for the following 4 exams listed below:
