This 520 hour program is for the entry level student who has limited IT support skills. The program begins with the basics of computer and builds to mid-level IT knowledge. The program is comprised of four courses covering such topics as PC fundamentals, Network fundamentals, Configuring a Windows 7 client and developing the skill set to become an Enterprise Desktop Support Technicians (EDSTs).
The A+ Managing and Maintaining Your PC course introduces the student to computer hardware and software support and while preparing the student for the CompTIA A+ certification. The students will learn about the installation/repair of computers and peripherals, as well as build their own computer.
The Network+ course covers the topics necessary for the student to build a networking foundation, and gain hands-on networking experience. The objectives are in two distinct groups: knowledge of networking technology and knowledge of networking practices.
The Windows 7 course covers installing, deployment, and upgrade to Windows 7. The course also covers new Windows 7 features such as BranchCache and HomeGroup networking. Additionally, you will master configuration pre-installation and post-installation system settings, Windows security features, network connectivity applications included with Windows 7, and mobile
Windows 7 Enterprise Desktop Support Technicians (EDST) course will teach students the process of establishing and using a troubleshooting methodology, and learn the EDST job role and responsibilities. Additionally, students will be exposed to various troubleshooting tools and techniques that enable them to address Windows 7 issues in an enterprise network environment.
Achieving CompTIA A+, Network+ and MCSA Windows 7 certifications designates that the student has a broad base of IT knowledge and competency in core hardware and operating system technologies including installation, configuration, diagnosing, preventive maintenance, the knowledge and skills needed to install, configure, manage and troubleshoot basic networking hardware, protocols and services and the ability to successfully install, administer, and troubleshoot information systems that incorporate Windows 7 and Server 2008 R2 operating system.
